The Costa Del Sol is one of the most exciting golf destinations in Europe, with numerous fine courses and some great night-life. The ‘coast’, known locally as the ‘Costa Del Golf’, spreads from the windswept links at Alcaidesa in the west to the rolling terrain at La Cala and Torrequebrada to the east.

Valderrama is arguably the region’s best known course, having hosted the 1997 Ryder Cup, however courses such as Rio Real, Torrequebrada, Los Naranjos and San Roque have long been favourites with regular visitors to the coast. In recent years new courses such as Santana and La Reserva have been added to many people’s ‘must play list’, and after the successful staging of the Volvo World Match Play at Finca Cortesin in 2009, it is sure to be added to this list.
 
Away from the courses there’s plenty going on to keep the travelling golfer entertained. Fuengirola is a vibrant town year round. Marbella, particularly the ‘old town’, has numerous sophisticated bars, restaurants and shops, and Benahavis should not be missed, it’s Andalucia’s gastronomic capital.

AM’s Opinion
The Costa Del Sol is a fun destination to have a golf break. There’s plenty of courses catering for all budgets and playing abilities, and the night-life is equally as varied and exciting. We can highly recommend a night out in Marbella’s old town or a meal in one of Benahavis’s excellent restaurants.
