Designed by, and for many years the home of Sir Henry Cotton, Penina is a traditional type golf course. You won’t find any tricked up holes or gimmicky features, it just flows through the natural terrain. The course is absolutely flat and the major hazards are tight dog legs and some carefully placed lakes. There are some great holes, the 9th and 18th stand out as they both head towards the hotel which forms a dramatic back drop to your approach shot to each green. However the 13th is probably the most memorable hole, a long par 3 with a pond to clear that sweeps almost the entire length of the hole getting wider as it approaches the green.

Location

Penina is situated 70 km to the west of Faro airport, a driving time of approximately 45 minutes. The course is easy to find as it’s located on the N125, the original main road that runs almost the entire length of the Algarve.
