Cut through a forest of Oak and Cork trees both Riba courses initially appear very similar, however, the designers were briefed to build a championship course and one for the members - they succeeded in creating two very individual courses. RIBA 1 Designed by Peter Townsend this is the Championship course and at over 7300 yards off the back tees it’s a monster. In addition to its length it also has narrow tree lined fairways, however, with numerous tee positions it can play as short as 6000 yards off the forward tees. The 13th, 14th, and 15th are a great three hole stretch with water coming into play on each hole. RIBA 2 18 Holes, Par 72 Designed by former Tour Professional Michael King, Riba 2 was designed with the members in mind, with wider fairways, larger greens and fewer contours than Riba 1. However, don’t be fooled in to thinking it’s easy, you still have to hit it straight to stay out of the forest! The 6th and 13th are two cracking holes. The 6th is a short par four with water running along the left hand side of the fairway that cuts across in front of the green. The 13th is a long dogleg par five with water cutting across the fairway and a lake guarding the right hand side of the green. Location
The Riba courses are situated 48 km to the east of Lisbon airport, a driving time of approximately 40 minutes (outside of the rush hour). Driving from the airport you have to go across the Vasco do Gamma bridge (the new bridge) and then head west on the IC3 and N119.
