A Robert Trent Jones Jr design, Penha Longa is one of the hillier courses in this region and it’s also one of the best. The owners completed a €2 million refurbishment of the course in 2009 and it will be hosting the Estoril Open de Portugal in April 2010, a European Tour event.

Situated in the Sintra hills, after the first three holes the course sweeps south and runs close to the Estoril Grand Prix race track! Olive, Cork, Eucalyptus and Oak trees line the fairways. There are many good holes, but watch out for the 15th, an excellent long par three over water. The closing stretch is particularly difficult and even more so when the wind blows, which it often does in this area!

Location

The Penha Lonha golf course is situated 30 km to the west of Lisbon airport, a driving time of approximately 35 minutes (outside of the rush hour).
