All three of La Cala’s courses were designed by the highly acclaimed American designer Cabell Robinson. The resort has played host to a number of prestigious events including the Ladies European Qualifying School and the Spanish Pairs Professional Championship in 2007. ASIA The Asia is the shortest of the three courses and good positioning from the tee is essential to score well. The 8th is a great short par three from an elevated tee to a tiny green. The 15th is also an excellent hole, it’s only 349m from the back tees, but requires an accurate drive and approach shot to find the narrow green.
The Americas is considered to be the Championship course at La Cala. Most holes provide a little more room off the tee than the other two courses and there are some spectacular elevated tees, notably on the 1st (men’s tee) 16th and 18th. The 16th is a cracking short par three over water to a narrow green. Watch out for the par five 18th, it weaves down a steep hill like a black run ski slope! EUROPA The Europa is the newest of the La Cala courses and opened in 2005. This course has a lot more holes with approach shots from elevated fairways. It also has the Ojen river running through parts of it. On the 4th you have to play over it twice, even though the hole is only a par four! The river also comes in to play on the 14th, one of the longest par threes on the Costa Del Sol and the 15th, a very tricky par five. Location
