San Lorenzo has frequently been rated as Portugal’s number 1 course, and once you’ve played it you will understand why. Situated alongside the Ria Formosa tidal inlet, it meanders through a natural bird sanctuary and provides some stunning views of the coastline. The variety of holes and general quality of its playing surfaces add to the enjoyment. The 6th, 7th and 8th are beautiful holes and run along the waterside, however it’s the 17th and in particular the 18th that most people will recall as the most memorable holes. Both require you to avoid large amounts of water, but the par four 18th is the biggest test with water coming into play in three places – it’s a real card wrecker!

Location

San Lorenzo is situated 18 km to the west of Faro airport, a driving time of approximately 25 minutes. From the Dona Filipa Hotel it’s a drive of approximately 15 minutes, 9 km to the east, and just past the Quinta do Lago golf club.
