Description

ALCAIDESA LINKS & HEATHLAND (Images 1 & 2)
2 x 18 Holes Courses, Both Par 72’s
Alcaidesa has two decent courses. The Links is the older of the two, built in 1992 it is more open and has some stunning views of the coast all the way to Gibraltar. The Heathland’s name is a bit misleading as it’s not like a typical British heathland course, however it’s got some interesting holes, is the longer of the two courses and is quite tricky.

ATALAYA OLD (Images 3 & 4)
18 Holes, Par 72
Atalaya Old is one of the oldest courses on the Costa Del Sol having opened in 1968 and is a strong members club. It’s a good parkland layout with eucalyptus and palm trees lining the fairways along with the odd cactus and numerous azaleas. There's a number of elevated tee positions and it's a gently rolling layout that's easy to walk.

EL PARAISO (Image 5)
18 Holes, Par 72
Designed by Gary Player and opened in 1973 there are not many better layouts than this on the Costa Del Sol. There are some excellent par fours and it’s a fair course with room to hit a bad shot and not be too badly punished. El Paraiso has a strong British membership and the clubhouse has a friendly ambience where visitors are always made to feel welcome.

MONTE MAYOR (Image 6)
18 Holes, Par 71
Created by the renowned course designer José Gancedo, this golf course is probably unlike any you have ever played before and is not for the faint hearted! Nestled in a natural amphitheatre created by the Serrania de Ronda Mountains, the greens have not been shaped by bulldozers, but by the natural undulations of the countryside. Its fairways wind through dramatic gullies, ravines and streams, Monte Mayor offers a superb challenge to even the most experienced golfers. Buggies are essential and included in the green fee!

SAN ROQUE OLD & NEW (Images 7 & 8)
2 x 18 Hole Course, Both Par 72
The San Roque courses are two of the premier courses in Andalucia. The Old courses is a private members club, however it does allow a limited number of visitor green fees. It’s a cracking layout designed by Dave Thomas and is a little more forgiving than the New course.  At over 7000 yards it’s pretty long however it plays a lot shorter off the forward tees. The New course is a Perry Dye & Severiano Ballesteros design, and has a very distinct look and feel to it. There are over a hundred bunkers and some daunting water hazards to avoid - it’s pretty tough!
